May 12, 2026 – RugGear, a leading provider of rugged mobile devices for mission-critical communications, has announced that its joint project with Telecom Argentina — “Telecom Argentina & RugGear Full-suite MCPTT Solution for Policía de Misiones” — has been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious International Critical Communications Awards (ICCAs) 2026 in the category of Best Use of Critical Communications in Public Safety.
Organized by TCCA-The Critical Communications Association, the ICCAs are widely regarded as one of the most respected awards programs in the global critical communications industry, recognizing innovation, excellence, and real-world impact.
The winners will be announced on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, in London, United Kingdom, during the annual Critical Communications World 2026.
Enhancing Public Safety Communications in Argentina
The finalist project showcases the successful deployment of an advanced mission-critical communications solution for the Policía de la Provincia de Misiones in Argentina.
Delivered in collaboration with Telecom Argentina, the solution integrates RugGear RG750 rugged MCPTT smart radios with Telecom’s XIRIUS Push-to-Talk (PTT) platform, enabling real-time voice, data, and geolocation services across the province.
Devices and platform of first phase has been deployed to support frontline police operations, connecting officers seamlessly with command centers, including the provincial 911 system and integrated police communication platforms.
This deployment has significantly enhanced:
Operational coordination between field units and command centers
Situational awareness through real-time location tracking
Response efficiency in both urban and rural environments
Officer safety and communication reliability
Driving the Transition to Broadband Mission-Critical Communications
The project demonstrates how modern MCPTT (Mission-Critical Push-to-Talk) solutions can complement and evolve traditional communication systems by leveraging broadband networks.
By combining ruggedized, purpose-built devices with a carrier-grade PTT platform, the solution enables:
Instant and secure push-to-talk communication
Integrated voice and data capabilities
Centralized fleet and operations management
Scalable architecture for future digital services
This approach supports public safety agencies in transitioning toward data-enabled, interoperable, and future-ready communications ecosystems.
“Being recognized as an ICCAs finalist is a strong validation of our commitment to enabling next-generation mission-critical communications,” said Maverick Chen, President of RugGear. “Together with Telecom Argentina, we are proud to support Policía de Misiones with a solution that enhances operational effectiveness, improves safety, and demonstrates the real-world value of broadband MCX technologies.”
With the winners to be revealed in June, RugGear and Telecom Argentina look forward to continuing their collaboration in delivering innovative, standards-based communication solutions that support public safety agencies worldwide.
