SIRESP and National Firefighters School Explore Collaboration Opportunities to Advance Emergency Communications Modernization

Sintra, Portugal – July 21, 2026 — SIRESP, S.A. has strengthened its commitment to advancing Portugal’s emergency communications ecosystem by meeting with the leadership of the National Firefighters School (Escola Nacional de Bombeiros – ENB) in Sintra to identify new opportunities for cooperation in the technological transformation of critical communications for emergency and public safety operations.

The SIRESP delegation, led by Chairman of the Board of Directors Major General Paulo Viegas Nunes, together with Board Member Brigadier General Albino Lameiras, was welcomed by ENB President Lídio Lopes, Board Members Gisela Meireles and Marco Martins, and Technical Communications Manager Fernando Gonçalves.

The meeting took place amid a rapidly evolving communications landscape, where reliable, resilient, and interoperable connectivity plays an increasingly important role in both the training and operational activities of firefighters and emergency response professionals.

During the discussions, SIRESP and ENB explored several potential areas of collaboration, including network integration, strengthening communications redundancy across different operational scenarios, and the opportunities enabled by fifth-generation mobile networks (5G) for emergency response and civil protection applications.

As part of the visit, the SIRESP delegation also toured ENB’s Simulation and Virtual Reality Centre, an internationally recognized facility dedicated to advanced training for firefighters and civil protection professionals.

The institutional engagement reflects a shared commitment to enhancing the resilience of Portugal’s national emergency response system through strategic partnerships, knowledge exchange, and closer cooperation between organizations responsible for managing critical communications networks and those preparing frontline responders who rely on these systems.

“SIRESP remains committed to working alongside national partners to develop a more capable, interoperable, and future-ready emergency communications ecosystem,” the company stated. “By combining technological innovation with operational expertise, we can better support the evolving needs of protection and emergency services.”

SIRESP expressed its appreciation to the National Firefighters School for the collaboration and reaffirmed its commitment to continuing joint efforts to strengthen Portugal’s emergency and public safety communications capabilities.
