Since his appointment on May 27, 2026, Dr. Christoph Hübner has been the new President of the Federal Agency for Digital Radio of Authorities and Organizations with Security Tasks (BDBOS). To commemorate this event, a festive ceremony was held on 11 June 2026 at the BDBOS headquarters in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, during which BMI State Secretary Sebastian Wüste officially introduced Dr Hübner to his new office at the head of BDBOS.

State Secretary Wüste conveyed congratulations to the new BDBOS President from Federal Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt. He wished him every success in his new task and explained that with Dr. Christoph Hübner, an excellent authority was getting an excellent president. In his speech, Wüste emphasized that the BDBOS as a "hidden champion" forms a central building block in the German security architecture and thanked the employees of the Federal Institute for guaranteeing the operational capability of the security authorities.

In his speech, Dr. Hübner also emphasized the special role of the Federal Institute. "The BDBOS is at the center of our country's security architecture. And it does so with both mainstays: both with the digital radio BOS and with the federal networks. Without the high-security network of the BDBOS, there is no secure communication, no exchange of information within the federal government and with the security authorities, no digital radio in the federal and state governments."

Secure communication is a core capability, both in peacetime and in cases of tension or defence, according to the new BDBOS President. Dr. Hübner expressed his thanks to the workforce for their expertise and tireless commitment, which makes uninterrupted, highly available communication possible in the first place, and explained that he was proud to be able to chair the BDBOS as president.
