Hong Kong – April 24, 2026 — The Global Certification Forum (GCF), in collaboration with TCCA, successfully hosted the Mission Critical Broadband Services (MCX) Asia Workshop in Hong Kong, bringing together key stakeholders to advance the evolution of mission-critical communications across the region.
Held on April 24 at the Kowloon Shangri-La, immediately following Critical Communications Asia 2026, the half-day workshop provided a focused platform for industry leaders, public safety authorities, mobile network operators, vendors, and testing organizations to explore the transition from traditional Land Mobile Radio (LMR) to standards-based mission-critical broadband services.
The workshop highlighted the latest developments in 3GPP-aligned MCX technologies, emphasizing the growing importance of interoperable, scalable, and future-ready communication systems. Participants gained insights into the evolving certification landscape, including the GCF certification program for MCX devices, clients, and servers, as well as real-world deployment experiences from across the global ecosystem.
Industry experts led in-depth discussions on key topics such as certification frameworks, technology roadmaps, and timelines for adoption, providing attendees with a clearer understanding of how mission-critical broadband solutions are being standardized and deployed. The session also addressed essential capabilities including MCPTT, MCVideo, and MCData, alongside critical network features such as quality of service (QoS), priority, and pre-emption in 4G and 5G environments.
A central theme of the workshop was the ongoing migration from legacy LMR systems to MCX-based broadband solutions. Speakers emphasized the importance of global alignment on standards, spectrum utilization, and interoperability, particularly as industries across public safety, transportation, utilities, and energy increasingly adopt hybrid communication models.
The event also provided a collaborative environment for participants to engage directly with experts, exchange insights, and discuss the future direction of mission-critical services certification. As the ecosystem continues to mature, initiatives such as this workshop play a vital role in accelerating adoption and ensuring reliable, secure, and interoperable communications for critical operations.
