Diamond Communications, a private wireless infrastructure company, has entered into an agreement with ITC Midwest LLC to market and manage the installation of wireless carrier equipment on select ITC Midwest electric transmission assets in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Missouri.
The relationship, according to the company, will enable wireless carriers access to ITC Midwest’s transmission structures, and offers the potential for new tower development on ITC Midwest controlled real estate on a build-to-suit basis. ITC Midwest’s infrastructure, which includes thousands of transmission structures and hundreds of parcels of land, provides the necessary infrastructure to accelerate carriers’ build-outs throughout the Midwest.
“Diamond is excited to partner with ITC Midwest to enhance access to their many colocation-ready assets in the Midwest – a region where we have long-standing, successful relationships with the major wireless carriers,” said Ed Farscht, Diamond’s Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to leveraging our knowledge and best practices that we’ve developed in the utility space to benefit the communities ITC Midwest serves. We are thrilled that the team at ITC has entrusted Diamond to expand use of their assets for wireless development.”
“We look forward to working with Diamond as the company expands wireless technology across our service territory,” said ITC Midwest President Dusky Terry. “Not only will this expand wireless technology access for the communities that we serve, but it will help offset transmission network rate pressure, which ultimately benefits electricity consumers.”
