Consort Digital has been selected for the deployment of MCX ONE mission-critical solution for the Mumbai Metro Line 1 (Blue Line), the oldest and one of the busiest metro lines in Mumbai. As part of the modernization effort, System Integrator DAMM India will deploy the MCX ONE solution to replace the existing communication infrastructure without disrupting daily operations.
Since its operation commencement on June 8, 2014, Line 1 has been the lifeline of Mumbaikars. Spanning 11.40 km (7.08 mi) with fully elevated 12 stations, Line1 has significantly enhanced urban mobility by reducing travel time between Versova and Ghatkopar from 71 minutes to just 21 minutes. The line also offers seamless interchange with the suburban rail system at Andheri and Ghatkopar stations.
In 2024, Line 1 achieved a milestone by surpassing a daily ridership of 500,000 passengers. Projections estimate that by 2031, the line will accommodate approximately 800,000 daily commuters, with a peak hour peak direction traffic (PHPDT) of 30,491, making it one of the highest-traffic metro lines in India.
To ensure that this high-traffic line continues to meet the communication needs of modern metro operations, Metro One Operation Pvt Ltd (MOOPL) has decided to replace and upgrade its existing 18-year-old TETRA Radio Communication System. Consort Digital will deploy its cutting-edge MCX ONE Core Enterprise, MCX ONE Dispatch Center, MCX ONE InterWorking Gateway and MCX ONE Rail Integration Server while replacing the existing Train Radio Systems. These products will be integrated with the State-of-the-Art DAMM TetraFlex base stations and existing Motorola end-user devices to provide a modern yet reliable communication solution. With MCX technology at its core, the solution is designed to be future-ready, enabling seamless scalability and long-term adaptability.
