BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB; TSX: BB) has announced the renewal and expansion of its long-standing secure communications partnership with the Government of Canada, reinforcing its role in delivering mission-critical, sovereign communications across federal departments and agencies.
The renewed multi-year agreement, signed with Shared Services Canada (SSC), will see the continued deployment of BlackBerry® UEM, alongside a significant expansion of BlackBerry® SecuSUITE®, enabling enhanced secure voice and messaging capabilities for government operations.
This agreement highlights the Canadian government’s continued confidence in BlackBerry as a trusted national technology partner, while supporting the country’s strategic focus on strengthening digital sovereignty through domestically developed solutions.
John J. Giamatteo, CEO of BlackBerry Limited, stated: “We are proud to extend our partnership with the Government of Canada, delivering highly secure, interception-resistant communications that protect sensitive missions and reinforce sovereign capabilities. As a Canadian company, we remain committed to advancing trusted technologies that support both national security and global export opportunities.”
Under the expanded scope, BlackBerry SecuSUITE will play a central role in supporting senior government leaders, defence and national security agencies, and public safety organizations operating in high-risk environments. Designed specifically for mission-critical use, SecuSUITE delivers end-to-end encrypted voice and messaging that operates independently of consumer-grade communication platforms.
The agreement aligns with Canada’s broader objectives to enhance domestic defence and security infrastructure by investing in Canadian-built technologies that safeguard critical government operations while strengthening export readiness in global markets.
The Honourable Jenna Sudds, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement and to the Secretary of State (Defence Procurement), emphasized the importance of the partnership: “In an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, investing in Canadian technology is essential to strengthening our digital sovereignty and global competitiveness. This agreement reaffirms our commitment to protecting sensitive information while supporting innovation within Canada’s technology sector.”
Trusted by organizations including NATO, all G7 governments, most G20 nations, and leading global financial institutions, BlackBerry Secure Communications continues to play a vital role in safeguarding national security and enabling trusted communications worldwide.
