The Tait Kordia Joint Venture Company has changed its name to Tait Systems NZ to continue the nationwide delivery of the Public Safety Network’s new Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network and will be 100% owned by Tait Communications.

The project is building an encrypted digital radio network for Next Generation Critical Communications who are working on behalf of Police, Fire and Emergency, Hato Hone St John, and Wellington Free Ambulance to deliver the Public Safety Network solutions. The new Land Mobile Radio network is a significant undertaking to bolster New Zealand’s safety and resilience through improving the critical communications capability of its emergency services.

“Tait Systems NZ has scaled up, reshaped our operations, and brought experts and additional resource on board. We now have the right structure to ensure delivery of all the components of the Land Mobile Radio network to emergency services as scheduled,” says Dr Yoram Benit, CEO of Tait Communications.

Tait Systems NZ will continue working closely with its customer Next Generation Critical Communications to deliver the project for New Zealand’s emergency services.

“The rollout will replace the Land Mobile Radio networks currently in use by emergency services, some of which are old technology and nearing end of life,” says Steve Ferguson, Director of Next Generation Critical Communications. “We welcome the significant amount of work Tait Systems NZ has put into getting in the best shape for delivering the Land Mobile Radio network.

We will continue to support them to deliver this important communications infrastructure that will ultimately, benefit all New Zealanders.”

The upscaling of the project involves Tait Systems NZ bringing on a number of expert subcontractors for the delivery phase. Previously a partner, Kordia has become a sub-contractor to Tait Systems on this project.

The Land Mobile Radio network will provide a secure, dedicated shared network for emergency services to use throughout New Zealand and will be delivered to them by the end of 2026. Tait Communications is a New Zealand-based company headquartered in Christchurch, with a stated mission of going beyond for a safer world.
