PowerTrunk, Inc. announces that it will be providing a technology upgrade to New Jersey Transit (NJ TRANSIT) for Dispatch System Control Consoles (DSCC). The improvement from PowerTrunk includes its Next-Generation Center for Command and Control (NG CeCoCo) platform and 33 dispatch operator positions for NJ TRANSIT’s Maplewood and Camden Bus Operations Centers (BOC).
Jersey City, NJ – March 4th, 2021
The PowerTrunk NG CeCoCo is a more technologically advanced version of its legacy CeCoCo currently installed and in use by NJ TRANSIT since 2013. The DSCC system is the heart of NJ TRANSIT’s BOC operations and allows for bus operations service supervision, incident response, and for NJ TRANSIT bus dispatchers to communicate with bus operators, other dispatchers, and other radio users connected to the NJ TRANSIT state-wide TETRA radio network to ensure worker and passenger safety. Over 4,000 radio users currently rely on the NJ TRANSIT TETRA network for daily operations.
The NG CeCoCo employs server virtualization and Radio-over-IP (RoIP) gateways, as well as a new IP-based switch that increases the system switching capability and eliminates the limitation of the number of dispatchers monitoring the same talk-group. The architecture is now based on nodes (servers) that can be dimensioned according to the customer’s capacity and high availability requirements and is easily scalable to support large control centers.
“We are pleased that NJ TRANSIT has again put its confidence in PowerTrunk to conduct such an important technology upgrade on its operations center which will significantly enhance its dispatching and automatic vehicle location capabilities,” stated Jose Martin, PowerTrunk CEO.
While the NG CeCoCo still supports the same communications and geographic information system (GIS) functionalities of the previous platform, some of the new features include centralized and instant call recording, multi-conferencing, patch / simulselect functionality, GIS with desktop and web-based viewer client options, a new alarm architecture, administration module, and an evolved GUI with added features, including touch-screen support.
The NJ TRANSIT upgrade from PowerTrunk also includes newly developed cyber protection and anti-malware services, thereby assuring compliance with NJ TRANSIT’s latest cybersecurity requirements for its communications and information systems.
The improvements to the latest next-generation technology provided by the PowerTrunk NG CeCoCo will enhance and expand the capabilities and effectiveness of the NJ TRANSIT bus dispatch operations for years to come.
