Icom Inc. has acquired its own building in the state of Hesse in western Germany. The total acquisition price for the land and building is 3.24 million euros (approximately 510 million yen.) The location is in the city of Heusenstamm, adjacent to Frankfurt. The Icom Inc. owned subsidiary company "Icom (Europe) GmbH" (Icom Europe) will be moved from the current city of Bad Soden am Taunus, Germany to this new location and facility. Icom Europe will begin operations in its new office on December 6, 2023.
The building has a two-story steel frame structure and the site area of 3,832 square meters, and a total floor area of 2,426 square meters.
The floor space will be 2.5 times larger than the current office space, with the first floor (1,552 square meters) used as a warehouse and the second floor (874 square meters) as office space.
In addition to being a sales base, the new office is also close to Frankfurt Airport, a major European hub airport, and will function much better as a logistics base for distribution to European countries.
Established in 1976, Icom Europe is a sales subsidiary responsible for sales in Germany, and in the countries surrounding Germany and Eastern Europe, as well as sales and technical support for other European dealers.
Icom Inc's sales in the EMEA region totaled 5.58 billion yen (FY3/2023,) up 25% from the previous year (FY3/2022) and up 39% from three years ago (FY3/2020,) growing despite COVID-19 and other adverse conditions. With the increase in cargo volume handled and the existing office space becoming full, the timing of this relocation fits the necessity to align with the growth in business and Icom Inc’s investment plans.
This is the first overseas acquisition of a company owned building in Europe, and adds to the properties currently owned and occupied by Icom America (Kirkland, USA) and Icom Australia (Melbourne.)
