As in previous years, the standard of entries has been extraordinarily high, with some of the biggest names in critical communications submitting their most cutting-edge products and successful roll outs. Companies in the running for awards include Motorola Solutions, Hytera, NEC Software Solutions and many more.

Categories this year include Best Narrowband Device, Best Hybrid Device, Best Use of Advanced Technology, TCCA Young Engineer of the Year, and Outstanding Contribution to Critical Communications. Awards will also be given for the best use of communications technology across a range of business and mission critical verticals, including public safety, transport, utilities, and oil and gas. The ICCAs judging panel will consist of a variety of industry luminaries including British APCO president John Anthony, FirstNet Authority CEO Ed Parkinson, IDC senior research analyst Sandi Wendelken and more.

Speaking of the importance of the awards, MD of organisers Mark Allen Exhibitions, Tim Willoughby, said: “The International Critical Communications Awards are a unique chance for the industry to come together in order to recognise the best work taking place across the globe. Pandemic or no pandemic, the last 12 months have seen some extraordinary innovations, as well as numerous high-profile, high-pressure roll outs.

“This year’s ceremony is also important because of the chance it gives those in the sector to finally come together to enjoy each other’s company after so many months apart. The Casino de Madrid is one of the most beautiful - not to say, salubrious - venues in the Spanish capital, and we can’t wait for what will undoubtedly be a highly enjoyable night.”

The 2021 ICCAs will take place at the Casino de Madrid, Spain on November 3. The ceremony will be co-located with this year’s Critical Communications World, taking place at the Madrid IFEMA, 3-5 November.
