ETSI, in partnership with the European Emergency Number Association (EENA), is organizing the NG112 Emergency Communications and NG eCall Plugtests event. This event is taking place from September 30 to October 4, 2024, in Malaga, Spain, with support from ETSI TC EMTEL and TC MSG. The University of Malaga will host the event, and remote participation will be available.

The concept of "Next Generation 112" (NG112) has been proposed as a solution to the growing need for content-rich emergency communication services. Until now, the interoperability of NG112 with NG eCall products and services has not been tested in Europe, making this event a key opportunity for vendors.

The Plugtests event features a comprehensive testing campaign based on use cases developed by ETSI and EENA. It provides a unique platform for emergency communication equipment vendors to test their products in various scenarios against other implementations.

Participation in the event is governed by a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to ensure fair, non-discriminatory involvement. While vendors are free to publicize their participation, the results of interoperability tests will remain confidential.

Vendors attending the event will benefit from testing their early-stage implementations in a neutral environment, validating their understanding of next-generation emergency calling standards, and promoting their technology.

This event is essential for ensuring products and solutions are ready for next-generation emergency communication requirements. The testing will validate interoperability and compliance across different market solutions, based on standards from the NG112 Long Term Definition document (NG112 LTD), 3GPP, ETSI, and IETF.

The event welcomes NGCS vendors, Forest Guide developers, mobile app providers, user agent vendors, and call handling providers. Additionally, government bodies, policymakers, and local authorities are invited to attend as observers.

The NG112 Communication Plugtests will cover various aspects of the NG112 communication chain, including:

  • Location and location-based call routing

  • Audio and video stream interoperability

  • Real-time text interoperability

  • Policy-based routing

  • LTD functional elements

  • Recording and logging

  • NG112/NG eCall interoperability

Don't miss this opportunity to ensure your products are future-proof for next-generation emergency communications.
