DBK (Dansk Beredskabskommunikation), Denmark's primary provider of emergency communication solutions, has announced an upcoming adjustment to the prices of radios offered under the SINE contract, effective January 1, 2025. The adjustment will result in a significant increase, ranging from approximately DKK 1,500 to DKK 2,500 per radio.
Until December 31, 2024, stakeholders can place orders for radios at current prices and within the existing product range. DBK encourages emergency services planning to acquire new radios before the year-end to notify Dansk Beredskabskommunikation (DBK) to facilitate preparation for anticipated demand.
Starting in 2025, radio pricing under the SINE contract will be subject to ongoing regulation, indexed annually according to the net price index. DBK stresses the importance for emergency services to stay updated on current prices via the SINE portal hosted by DBK, accessible at portal.sikherdsnet.dk (super user login required), as recommended by the Rigspolitiets Center for Beredskabskommunikation (CFB).
Exclusion of Airbus TETRA Radios
Effective January 1, 2025, changes to the selection of radios available under the SINE contract will also be implemented. Notably, Airbus Public Safety and Security radios will no longer be included in the future product range.
Introduction of New Radio Functionality
In anticipation of the new SINE contract, DNK will introduce enhanced functionality in radios, enabling automatic switching to broadband in areas with limited SINE coverage. This feature will be available in newer radios connecting to the SINE infrastructure via WiFi, allowing connection to 4G or 5G networks through hotspots or smartphones.
Continued Flexibility in Radio Procurement
DNK reaffirms the flexibility for emergency services to use current radios with existing talkgroups under the new SINE contract. While the option to procure radios under the SINE contract remains exclusively available to emergency services, stakeholders can still explore alternative procurement methods, including acquiring radio models like Airbus that are not offered under the contract.
It's important to note that all radio models and software must undergo certification before integration into the SINE network, regardless of procurement through the SINE contract or external channels.
Reference to Certified Radios and Equipment
Stakeholders are directed to the list of certified radios and equipment available on the SINE platform for comprehensive guidance on compatible devices and software.
