CGI, one of the largest independent IT and business consulting services firms globally, has been appointed by the UK Government’s Home Office as the Technology Delivery Partner for the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP) across England, Scotland, and Wales.

Valued at CA$81.2 million, this five-year contract emphasizes advisory and delivery capabilities.

The cross-government initiative aims to implement a new critical communications system, the Emergency Services Network (ESN), to enhance the communication infrastructure for the UK’s emergency responders. ESN will provide a robust, cost-efficient communications network supporting Fire, Ambulance, and Police services. This new system will streamline communication capabilities, enabling fast, safe, and secure voice, video, and data transmission over the 4G network. Responders will have immediate access to vital data, images, and information during live situations and emergencies on the front line.

John Black, Programme Director of ESMCP, stated:“The Emergency Services Network will equip Britain’s first responders with cutting-edge communications technology, ensuring up-to-date voice and data communications during emergencies, thereby enhancing public safety. We’re thrilled to welcome CGI to our team. Their expertise and experience in large-scale technology delivery are invaluable as we advance the Emergency Services Network. We look forward to collaborating with CGI as we finalize the Network and begin the mobilisation and deployment process across hundreds of user organisations over the next five years.”

David Filmer, Senior Vice President of Consulting Services at CGI, commented:“CGI has a proven track record in delivering national critical infrastructure within the public safety sector. Our core mission is to execute complex projects efficiently, providing actionable insights for our clients. Our commitment to this partnership with the ESMCP is unwavering. Leveraging our extensive telecoms experience, we offer a bespoke and scalable partnership tailored to meet the Programme’s needs.”
